Green communities in Dubai

Bringing touches of lush greenery to the desert landscape, green communities in Dubai are sprouting all over.

As the host of COP28 and a net zero target to be reached by 2050, Dubai and property developers are becoming more conscious and proactive about sustainable living.

What is a green community?

Green communities are built to be more environmentally-friendly than regular residential developments. Such communities are built with better air quality in mind, experience reduced traffic noise, cooler temperatures, and foster greater eco-diversity.

From Emirates Hills to Jumeirah Golf Estate, let’s look at some of the green communities in Dubai.

Sustainable City

Recognized as the first zero-energy community in the UAE, Sustainable City has an abundance of eco-friendly features that has ensured its title of “happiest community” at the Gulf Real Estate Awards.

The gated community has a 10-meter-high buffer zone as a barrier against pollutants, plus a park lined with 11 biodomes with 3,000 square meters for urban farming. The 5 residential clusters boast 500 villas each, courtyards, and gardens.

The Greens

A low-rise community close to Sheikh Zayed Road, The Greens boasts 36 buildings and is abundant with green surroundings and a serene lake. The sub-communities of The Greens overlook tree-lined streets and there is a central lake which is perfect for getting in your steps and walking your pets.

Jumeirah Golf Estates

With 1,100 hectares of lush greenery, Jumeirah Golf Estate offers eco-friendly living and lush green landscapes. The green community is home to properties in 16 clusters, ranging from 1-bedroom apartments to 4-bedroom villas.

Arabian Ranches

One of the first suburban freehold neighborhoods in Dubai, Arabian Ranches boasts over 4,000 villas and townhouses ranging from two to six bedrooms.

Emirates Hills

One of the most sought-after gated communities in Dubai, Emirates Hills offers custom-built properties, with plot sizes as large as 45,000 square feet.

Known as the Beverly Hills of Dubai, the quiet streets of Emirates Hills are lined with trees; while many villas overlook the grounds of the Emirates Hills golf courses, of which there are two, or one of the 17 lakes. Dubai Hills Estate

As part of the first phase of Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Dubai Hills Estate delivers a quiet lifestyle that’s a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Dubai. The community is spread over 11 million square feet with over 2,000 villas and thousands of apartments planned.

Some of the green elements of the community include an 18-hole championship golf course with views of the Burj Khalifa, a 2.5-kilometer jogging track, recreational facilities, and an outdoor gym. You will find it hard not to spend all your time outdoors.
